The Lands Between are officially making their debut on a Nintendo platform. Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have announced Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, with digital pre-orders now officially open on the eShop. Marking one of the most significant third-party releases for the new console, this definitive edition is scheduled to launch on August 28, 2026, bundling the base game, its massive expansion, and entirely new gameplay features.
The complete experience: base game + Shadow of the Erdtree
The core appeal of the Tarnished Edition is its all-in-one format. Players will receive the 2022 Game of the Year masterpiece alongside its critically acclaimed expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.
The expansion acts as a massive narrative continuation, transporting players to the mysterious Realm of Shadow. It expands the lore with a terrifying journey following the footsteps of Miquella, introducing brutal new bosses, fresh weapon archetypes, and sprawling, vertical dungeons.
All-new features: torrent customization and fresh classes
Beyond consolidating the existing experience, FromSoftware is introducing brand-new content that was entirely absent from the original release:
Torrent customization: for the very first time, players can alter the visual appearance of their faithful spectral steed. Visual customization for Torrent has been one of the community’s most vocal requests since the game’s initial launch.
Two new starting classes: character creation is expanding with two completely fresh starting archetypes. While their specific stat distributions and starting gear remain under wraps, they will offer entirely new ways to tackle the game’s opening hours.
New armor sets: the edition introduces four brand-new armor sets, expanding tactical build options and cosmetic variety for players.
Multiplatform availability: the “Tarnished Pack”
Existing players on other ecosystems will not be left behind. Bandai Namco confirmed that the new content, including the two starting classes, the new armors, and Torrent’s customization features, will be made available as a separate premium purchase on the exact same day.
