Upcoming September updates and content additions

While an exact PS5 release date has not yet been announced, Playground Games outlined incoming post-launch support:

  • September 10 Update: Centered around the British automotive scene, this update introduces the permanent Drift Attack mode. Winning in this mode gives players a chance to earn the exclusive 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition.
  • New Playlist Vehicles: Includes the 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed, 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior, and 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR.
  • September 7 Patch: Resolved car wheel display glitches and added an option to set subtitle languages independently from audio tracks.

Commercial impact and game features

  • Japan Setting: Fulfilling a long-standing community request, Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan and features refined gameplay alongside vehicles from Japanese and international manufacturers.
  • PS5 Market Performance: Microsoft’s decision to port the game follows the strong performance of the franchise’s previous entry, which sold approximately 5 million copies on PS5.
  • Xbox Exclusivity Testing: Despite bringing Forza Horizon 6 to PS5, Microsoft will test a more restrictive platform strategy with the release of Gears of War: E-Day, scheduled for October 6.
