Gears of War: E-Day mandates Ray Tracing-compatible GPUs on PC

Developer The Coalition has confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will require a Ray Tracing-compatible GPU to run on PC, preventing older hardware like the NVIDIA GTX 1060 and AMD RX 5000 series from launching the game.

Hardware restrictions, development status, and pre-load

  • Ray Tracing Requirement: Similar to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the game is not configured to run on legacy graphics hardware lacking native Ray Tracing support. Community mods previously added unofficial support for non-RT GPUs in Indiana Jones, and similar workarounds are expected for E-Day.
  • Optimization & Benchmark Tool: The Coalition is continuing optimization work and will include an in-game benchmark tool in the final release to assist players in configuring optimal visual settings.
  • Gold Status & Pre-Load: On Thursday (17), the developer announced on social media that the title has “gone gold,” confirming it is playable from start to finish. Pre-loading begins on September 29 across PC and Xbox Series X|S ahead of the October 6 release date.
