Minecraft surprises players by adding a long-requested community feature in new update

The update introduces new decorative elements to the game, including unreleased structures, a new bed, and most notably, highly anticipated cushions, a feature heavily requested by the community.

Minecraft surprises players.

After a 17-year wait, players will finally be able to sit in Minecraft using these new seats, which can be positioned on any flat surface. This eliminates the long-standing need to hold down the shift key to pretend a character is sitting on decorative chairs built by the community.

Straw beds and mechanics

In addition to cushions, the update introduces straw beds to the game. These items come with distinct operational rules:

  • No Spawn Reset: They allow players to pass the night without redefining their spawn point.
  • Single-Use Only: These beds are destroyed immediately after use.
  • Dimensional Restrictions: They cannot be utilized in either the Nether or The End.

New structures and biomes

The update also expands world exploration by adding abandoned camps to the terrain generation.

  • Biomes: These structures can be discovered within the Pale Garden and Flower Forest biomes.
  • Loot: Straw beds can be found directly within these newly added camp constructions.

Community reaction

The community’s reaction on the official announcement post has been highly positive. Numerous players are actively celebrating the addition of cushions and sharing images of their in-game sofas and chairs, which have now become truly functional. Over time, these features are expected to inspire increasingly incredible builds across the player base.
