Following the successful launch of Black Flag Resynced, rumors suggest that the game that started the entire franchise is the next in line for the “Resynced” treatment.

According to j0nathan, a prominent insider known for accurate leaks regarding the series, a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed is currently in development. While specific details remain scarce, recent industry buzz suggests an official announcement from Ubisoft may not be far off.

The “Resynced” treatment

The speculation gained momentum over the past weekend during a podcast featuring Tom Henderson, editor of Insider Gaming. Henderson noted that another franchise title was already undergoing the “Resynced” treatment, though he did not specify which one at the time.

In response to these reports, j0nathan shared that a contact informed him as far back as 2023 that the project is indeed the first Assassin’s Creed, the 2007 title that fundamentally changed Ubisoft’s trajectory.

Anniversary speculation

While Ubisoft has yet to confirm the project, timing suggests a strategic release window:

  • 20th Anniversary: The original Assassin’s Creed launched on November 13, 2007, for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
  • Release Timing: Aligning a remake with the series’ 20th anniversary in 2027 (or a period close to it) would serve as a major milestone for Ubisoft’s most popular IP.

What to expect

If the project is confirmed, the industry is keen to see the extent of the overhaul. Over the last two decades, the franchise has seen massive shifts in gameplay mechanics and world scale. A remake of the first game would likely need to bridge the gap between the 2007 original and the modern standards established by recent entries.
