The PlayStation FlexStrike arcade controller will no longer hit store shelves in August due to manufacturing complications. Originally revealed by Sony in 2025 and anticipated for an August release, the company announced on Tuesday, July 14, that it has been forced to postpone the launch indefinitely.
PlayStation FlexStrike postponed
In an update on its official blog, Sony explained that it requires “extra time” to apply the finishing touches to the device. Due to circumstances beyond its control, the company was unable to guarantee the product’s release on August 6, and it cannot provide a new launch date at this time.
“We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches,” PlayStation stated.
The corporation clarified that it will soon provide updates to customers who pre-ordered the controller directly through its official website. Those who purchased the accessory through other channels are advised to contact their respective sellers directly.
With this postponement, the PlayStation FlexStrike will miss its planned launch alongside Marvel Tokon, the next major release in the fighting game genre.
Despite the controller’s delay, the game remains scheduled to debut on August 6. Additionally, Sony has shown no signs of lifting the restrictions it has imposed on more than 100 regions, which will remain unable to access the game.
Compact design and high-precision features
The Japanese company’s arcade controller was designed to serve as a compact, high-quality option for players seeking maximum precision. By opting for a highly portable format, Sony aims to appeal to competitive tournament players who want to avoid carrying heavy, bulky equipment.
Compatibility: Fully compatible with both PlayStation 5 and PC.
Major 2026 Accessory: The FlexStrike was poised to be Sony’s flagship accessory release for 2026. Prior to announcing its official price and release date, the company went so far as to invite influencers and specialized media to its headquarters to preview the product.
