Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will launch with a base price of US$ 80. Additionally, the developer revealed that the game will be an entirely single-player experience when it debuts on November 19, and its physical edition will not include a game disc.

Pricing and edition details

Following the recent reveal of the Grand Theft Auto 6 Ultimate Edition, Rockstar Games locked in the official pricing structure for the upcoming title:

  • Standard Edition: Priced at US$ 80.
  • Ultimate Edition: Priced at US$ 99.99. This most complete version of the game is required to unlock various extra items and access select exclusive in-game shops.

The Impact on the gaming industry

The official price of GTA 6 has long been a subject of debate due to the game’s massive cultural impact. Investors believe that through this move, publisher Take-Two Interactive could open the door for other Triple-A titles to permanently increase their prices in the future.

Physical editions will not include a disc

In a significant shift for the franchise, Rockstar confirmed that the physical version of GTA 6 will not come with a physical disc.

Players who purchase the physical edition will only receive a download code to redeem a digital copy of the game. According to the developer, this physical option is intended essentially for collectors who enjoy having a physical box to display in their collections.

Pre-order timeline and 1980s rewards

Official pre-orders for GTA 6 are scheduled to begin at midnight on June 25. Rockstar explained that the launch time will respect the local time zone of each individual country where the game is made available.

Pre-Order Bonus: Players who pre-purchase either the Standard Edition or the Ultimate Edition will guarantee access to special cosmetic items themed around the 1980s.

The future of multiplayer

While a multiplayer mode appears inevitable for GTA 6, Rockstar Games has not yet revealed what its specific plans are for an online component. However, the text notes that the immense popularity of the current version of GTA Online suggests that the existing multiplayer platform will not be abandoned anytime in the near future.
