Combat adjustments and gameplay mechanics

The leaked clips highlight several changes coming to the game’s core systems:

  • Melee Combat Pacing: Physical hand-to-hand combat appears to align more closely with the cadence of Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • On-Screen Reticle: Unlike previous entries in the series where the reticle only appeared when drawing a weapon, it now remains on-screen while the protagonist moves outside of combat.
  • Vehicle Theft Options: Players approaching a vehicle have the option to steal it by breaking a window or using a key-cloning system, which appears to be a slower process. The leak does not clarify how key cloning works or whether it requires prerequisites.
  • Refinery Sequence & Tools: A video showing protagonist Jason invading a refinery confirms the presence of a taser and new character detection mechanics.
  • Taunting & Looting: The clips briefly feature a system used to taunt enemies. Players can also loot dead enemies similarly to Red Dead Redemption 2, but at a much faster speed.
  • Environment & Health Items: The materials show what appear to be dead pigeons and a healing item called Zombix. When Jason uses Zombix to recover energy, an on-screen warning states that repeated long-term use of the solution may harm the character’s health.

Copyright takedowns and group monetization

The leaked videos spread rapidly across social media platforms and Reddit. Rockstar Games moved quickly to take the videos down, an action that corroborates the authenticity of the materials.

While Cyberleek claims it leaked the footage to protest Rockstar’s actions, the group is actively profiting from the publicity:

  • Cryptocurrency Promotion: Cyberleek is using the fame gained from the leaks to sell and promote its own cryptocurrency.
  • Paid Voting System: The group has linked its cryptocurrency to voting polls, allowing paying users to choose which leaked game content they want to see next.
