WB games artist may have accidentally confirmed Injustice 3

New evidence suggests that Injustice 3 is officially in development at NetherRealm Studios, following an accidental leak on a professional profile belonging to a Warner Bros. Games artist.

Despite ending official support for Mortal Kombat 1 nearly a year ago, NetherRealm has yet to formally announce its next project. However, according to the site MP1ST, an artist working for both the studio and Warner Bros. Games updated their professional portfolio with information confirming their contribution to the new chapter of the DC fighting series.

The leak details

The artist’s profile reportedly listed experiences with several AAA projects, ranging from the already confirmed Hogwarts Legacy sequel to two unannounced titles. Most notably, the portfolio made an explicit mention of Injustice 3. Out of safety concerns for the developer’s identity, the specific name of the artist was not disclosed.

What we know About Injustice 3 So Far

While this professional leak is the most direct evidence yet, other clues have surfaced over the past year:

  • Voice Actor Confirmation: In September 2025, voice actors George Newbern (Superman) and Phil LaMarr (John Stewart/Aquaman) reportedly told fans at a Fan Expo event that they were already recording lines for the game.
  • The Setting: The series features an alternate DC Universe where Superman became a tyrant following the death of Lois Lane. The gameplay typically adapts Mortal Kombat mechanics to fit the powers of superheroes.

Delays and the DC Universe Reboot

The development of Injustice 3 was likely affected by internal shifts at Warner Bros. Discovery, specifically the reboot of the DC Cinematic Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Gunn has publicly confirmed discussions with NetherRealm and Warner Bros. Games regarding future productions. However, fans should manage their expectations regarding the release date; recent NetherRealm projects have historically taken four to five years to reach completion.
