Sony has confirmed that Fishbowl, the highly anticipated narrative adventure from imbaLab, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on April 2, 2026. Blending beautiful pixel art with a deeply personal story, the game invites players to navigate a month in the life of Alo, a young woman working from home while grieving the recent loss of her grandmother.
Set in an urban environment during a period of isolation, Fishbowl focuses on the small, often overlooked moments of daily life. Players must manage Alo’s schedule, which includes working her video editing job, keeping the house organized, and deciding how to spend her limited free time.
The gameplay is divided into two main layers:
Daily Management: Maintaining a routine to keep Alo’s mental health and productivity in balance.
Memory Exploration: Through video editing puzzles, Alo “reconstructs” memories of her childhood, uncovering stories about her family and the objects her grandmother left behind.
Narrative choices and emotional weight
The developers emphasize that Fishbowl is a branching narrative where choices matter. Every interaction, whether it’s answering a phone call from a friend, ignoring a message, or choosing which tasks to prioritize, will influence how Alo processes her grief and how her relationships evolve.
“We wanted to create something that felt honest about the loneliness of modern life,” the development team shared via the PlayStation Blog. “Fishbowl is about finding the courage to step out of your own bubble, even when the world feels too heavy.”
PS5 exclusive features
The PlayStation 5 version of Fishbowl will take full advantage of the console’s unique hardware:
Haptic Feedback: Players will feel the subtle tactile sensations of daily tasks, from the clicking of a keyboard to the pitter-patter of rain against the window.
4K Visuals: The intricate, hand-drawn pixel art is rendered in stunning 4K, bringing the cozy yet melancholic atmosphere of Alo’s apartment to life.
Immersive Soundscape: The lo-fi, chill-hop inspired soundtrack dynamically changes based on Alo’s current emotional state.
Availability
Starting April 2, Fishbowl will be available on the PlayStation Store. For those looking for a contemplative experience that tackles heavy themes with a gentle touch, Fishbowl promises to be one of the standout indie titles of the season.
