Invincible VS: new 3v3 tag fighter gets release date and brutal gameplay details

Developed by veterans of the 2013 Killer Instinct, the title promises absolute fidelity to the stylized violence of the animated series with a dynamic team-based combat system.

Skybound Games and developer Quarter Up (a studio formed by key members of the Killer Instinct team) have officially announced that Invincible VS will launch on April 30, 2026. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

The “Omni-Tag” combat system

The core mechanic of Invincible VS is its 3v3 tag-team system, allowing players to swap between three different characters in real-time.

  • Tag Mechanics: Players can extend combos by tagging in teammates mid-attack or use defensive tags to escape high-pressure situations.
  • Visual Fidelity and Brutality: Staying true to Robert Kirkman’s work, the game features a progressive damage system (characters show visible injuries as the fight continues) and cinematic finishers such as Ultimate Finishers and the Overkill system.

Roster and game modes

The title will launch with an initial roster of 18 characters. Confirmed fighters in the reveal trailer and official materials include:

  • Invincible (Mark Grayson), Omni-Man, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Bulletproof, Battle Beast, Robot, Monster Girl, Cecil Stedman, Allen the Alien, Lucan, and Thula.

Modes available at launch:

  • Cinematic Story Mode: An original narrative developed alongside the animated series team.
  • Arcade and Training: Classic modes for AI challenges and combo mastery.
  • Online Multiplayer: Features rollback netcode to ensure stable and competitive online play.

Pre-order and beta information

Players who pre-order the game will receive the exclusive Zero Suit Mark skin, a cosmetic variant for the protagonist. Additionally, an Open Beta has been scheduled for April 9, allowing fans to test the online infrastructure and a limited selection of characters before the global launch.
