On Sunday (22), studio Pearl Abyss released update 1.00.03 for Crimson Desert, the first since the game’s official launch. In addition to stability enhancements and expanded configuration options for mouse/keyboard and controllers on PC, the update also introduced quality-of-life improvements across all platforms.

Among the key features introduced by the studio are new fast-travel portals, which aim to facilitate teleportation between different regions of Pywell. The game also gained a personal storage chest to help resolve some of its most pressing item management issues.

Crimson Desert also reduced the difficulty of its arm-wrestling minigame, decreased the time required to acquire “knowledge,” and ensured that trees can now be cut down using basic attacks. The protagonist now recovers more energy when consuming food, and the title adjusted the visibility of puzzle hints while simplifying the mining process for certain materials.

List of improvements

Update 1.00.03 features an extensive list of adjustments to quests and minigames, ranging from game-breaking bug fixes to difficulty tweaks in specific areas. Pearl Abyss also implemented improvements to the game’s controls and UI, making them more responsive and easier to navigate.

In its official patch notes, the company explained that it made several adjustments to boss fights, reducing their health pools and ensuring the protagonist loses less stamina when blocking attacks. Similarly, fire arrows should now properly burn the enemies they hit.

The list of improvements also includes specific fixes for the PlayStation 5, which gained a new option to enable 120Hz mode in its menus. On Sony’s console, the developers also promised that crashes occurring when opening the map screen have been resolved.

On Xbox, the title can now be played even when the console is offline. While the list of adjustments is extensive, these are only the first steps in the planned changes for the game. Pearl Abyss stated that it will continue to implement numerous improvements, which include the replacement of various assets originally created using generative artificial intelligence.
