Nearly a year after the launch of the Overture expansion, developer NEOWIZ has officially confirmed that the sequel to Lies of P has moved out of the prototyping phase and into active development.

The confirmation appeared in the company’s latest fiscal report, signaling that the groundwork for the next chapter in the acclaimed Soulslike series is complete. While the studio has not yet shared a release window or specific plot details, the project remains under the leadership of Director Choi Ji-won, who previously expressed his commitment to delivering “the greatest possible fun” based on community feedback.

AI integration to accelerate development

A notable highlight of the report is NEOWIZ’s search for a specialist in Artificial Intelligence to join the production team. The company aims to use AI technology to:

  • Concept Art Generation: Merging human creativity with AI tools to streamline the early visual design processes.
  • Production Speed: Accelerating the overall development pipeline by integrating AI into the established workflows of the ROUND8 team.
  • Technical Enhancement: The role involves training AI models and applying advanced post-processing and upscaling techniques.

While the report does not explicitly state that this new hire will work exclusively on the Lies of P sequel, it is highly probable given the project’s current scale and the company’s focus on technological innovation.

The success of ROUND8

The report also took time to praise the ROUND8 team, specifically citing their narrative expertise. Directors Seung-go Jin and Kay Lee have been credited with the first game’s success in blending competent Soulslike gameplay with a compelling story, a reputation the studio aims to uphold with the upcoming sequel.
