Originally launched on April 3, 2025, for PC, Xbox Series S|X, and Xbox Game Pass, South of Midnight is now available on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

Developed by Compulsion Games, the studio behind Contrast and We Happy Few, the title brings its unique narrative and atmospheric proposal to new platforms. The game is a third-person, story-driven adventure set in the Deep South of the United States. The plot follows Hazel, a protagonist who becomes entangled in supernatural events after a tragedy strikes her home.

Availability and editions

For those interested, South of Midnight is now available on the PlayStation Store and the Nintendo Switch eShop. The release features the Weaver’s Edition, which includes the full game along with all its additional digital content.

Gameplay and lore

Throughout the journey, Hazel takes on the role of a figure capable of restoring spiritual bonds and repairing broken fragments of reality. Using these powers, she confronts creatures inspired by Southern folklore while investigating the mysteries of her family’s past.

Blending elements of dark fantasy with a striking visual aesthetic, South of Midnight presents a world that is simultaneously enchanting and unsettling.
