Originally announced in June 2024 as an Epic Games Store exclusive, Lords of the Fallen 2 is breaking its shackles. Developer and publisher CI Games has officially terminated its exclusivity distribution agreement with Epic Games, paving the way for a multi-store PC launch just ahead of its summer release.

In a financial statement released on Monday, May 18, 2026, CI Games confirmed it has bought back the full publishing rights to the dark fantasy action RPG, allowing the company to distribute the game independently.
While the game will no longer be locked to a single PC storefront, it hasn’t completely severed ties with Epic’s ecosystem:
Independent Distribution: CI Games now controls where the game is sold, meaning a Steam listing is heavily anticipated, alongside the standard console releases.
Backend Integration: The game is still being built on Unreal Engine and will continue to utilize Epic Games’ backend account systems and multiplayer connectivity features.
Delayed Announcement: CI Games noted that the decision to split from Epic was finalized some time ago, but the public announcement was strategically delayed to protect ongoing commercial operations.
Gameplay, dual-worlds, and recent controversies
Scheduled for an August 2026 launch window, Lords of the Fallen 2 serves as a direct sequel to the successful 2023 reboot.
The Core Loop: The game will retain its signature high-difficulty medieval combat and the unique dual-world mechanic, allowing players to dynamically shift between two parallel dimensions, each featuring distinct layout challenges and enemy types.
The Armor Debate: The game recently drew online attention after a marketing campaign utilized content creators to highlight highly revealing armor sets for female characters.
The Studio’s Response: Following community feedback, CI Games clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that the game will feature plenty of “realistic” full-body armor variants. The studio promised over 100 distinct armor sets at launch, all of which can be equipped by any character class regardless of gender.
